The Starving Theologian - Digging for Diamonds

"The Starving Theologian" is a play on the old term, "Starving Artist", which Wikipedia defines as "an artist who sacrifices material well-being in order to focus on their artwork. They typically live on minimum expenses, either for a lack of business or because all their disposable income goes towards art projects." I use the term, "starving theologian", because I want to study theology for a living but don't have the training to get paid to do so.

Explanation for Name (Continued)

The extended explanation for the new name of my blog is as follows:

No I don't study theology for free, nor do I study it for a living. I have a day job but have thought about being a starving theologian. "Starving" also refers to a hunger for God that I desire to be stronger. "Digging for diamonds" is referring to a John Piper quote where he was talking about studying deep, theological truths: "Raking is easier than digging, but you only get leaves. If you dig you may get diamonds". My hope is that you find me digging for diamonds on this blog more often than you find me raking for leaves (although as a paid non-theologian rather than a starving theologian I will likely have to do some raking).
